Marine environment protection
Evaluation and management of human impact on marine ecosystems, addressing pollution, environmental degradation, and the implementation of environmental regulations for their mitigation. It includes studies on the presence, distribution, and effects of litter and pollutants in coastal and marine areas, analysis of the impact on environmental compartments including marine biota. Furthermore, strategies for the sustainable planning and management of coastal zones and the application of advanced technologies for marine environmental monitoring are developed.
It includes the following lines of research:
- Environmental quality
- Analysis, behaviour, distribution and effects of contaminants
- Integrated management of coastal areas
- Oceanography and Remote Sensing
- Marine litter management
- Control and treatment of harmful algae and pathogenic organisms
