European Marine Biological Resource Centre, EMBRC Europe

The EMBRC-ERIC network is the only research infrastructure dedicated to marine biology and ecology. It is committed to accelerating the understanding of marine biodiversity through research and ocean exploration, with the aim of understanding the pressures affecting life in the ocean, advancing scientific innovation, and promoting the sustainable use of marine resources. Through our network of research organizations and marine stations across Europe, we provide access to ecosystems, organisms, resources, services, and facilities to support researchers from both academia and industry in studying the ocean and developing innovative solutions to current challenges.

European Marine Biological Resource Centre, EMBRC Spain

EMBRC Spain is the Spanish node of EMBRC. Through its partners, it provides researchers with access to three marine sites, supporting them with access to estuarine and coastal marine habitats, marine biological resources in collections and biobanks, research services under the “One Health” approach (adopting a multidisciplinary perspective on human and planetary health), and experimental facilities for ecological and aquaculture research. The Spanish partners of EMBRC are:

*Call for “Staff Mobility Programme EMBRC Europe”

This call aims to promote the mobility of EMBRC staff (technicians, administrators, managers, and researchers in charge of EMBRC-capable services and platforms) to visit a partner institution within the network for a short-term stay. The goal is to work alongside local staff to gain experience, enhance knowledge, and develop new skills in their field, as well as to share expertise and best practices within the sector. The EMBRC network aims to reduce knowledge fragmentation in marine sciences by establishing a collaborative network of experts across Europe. Through this program, we encourage staff exchange and support knowledge sharing among our partners by:

    • Enhancing technical and scientific competencies within EMBRC.
    • Promoting best practices to optimize service delivery processes and workflows.
    • Fostering stronger collaboration and communication among EMBRC partners.

Those interested in participating in this initiative should contact the Local Access Officer of the potential host institute to reach an agreement on their staff mobility request, explaining the reasons for their stay. The list of EMBRC Local Access Officer contacts is available here. It is recommended to locate the specific research service in the service catalogue, available here.

    Deadline: April 30, 2026 (15:00 CEST).
