Nautical and underwater archaeology

This research line focuses on the diachronic study of the relationship between past societies and the sea, utilizing underwater archaeological evidence. To achieve this, we investigate sites such as shipwrecks, anchorages, coastal areas, and port structures using scientific diving, marine geophysics, and archaeological excavation. We emphasize the use of virtual and non-intrusive documentation techniques applied to underwater cultural heritage.

This line of research encompasses studies and projects ranging from the investigation, evaluation, management, and conservation to the enhancement of underwater cultural heritage, with a special emphasis on the transfer of cultural and tourism products to society.
