Assistance in scientific sampling and/or diving activities

The support service for scientific sampling and/or diving activities offers the assistance of a technician for sampling tasks and also the loading and use of diving cylinders.

Support service for sampling campaigns in the marine environment (oceanographic activities, biological sampling, in situ experiments, collection of water samples, sediments, etc.) as well as the installation and maintenance of submerged equipment, sampling equipment, diving equipment and INMAR’s vessels. Support is also offered in non-extractive sampling through photography and video, as well as audiovisual documentation, filming and analysis of underwater images. Types of services offered:

  • Support for intertidal sampling.
  • Support for sampling from a vessel.
  • Support for sampling requiring light diving equipment.
  • Support for sampling requiring scuba diving.
  • Support for sampling with pneumatic boat.

Diving tank loading service. Charging of diving bottles with compressed air up to a pressure of 200 Bar or other scientific device requiring a compressed air charge is offered. Other types of bottles can also be loaded without volume limitation. In order to use this service, the bottles must be correctly stamped and correctly checked, they must have passed the annual visual inspection and the triennial hydrostatic test.

Image analysis and identification service for marine invertebrates and processing of benthic samples. This service offers support for the organization, triage and identification of benthic samples and can be combined with the molecular biology analysis service (barcoding). Types of services offered:

  • Taxonomic identification of benthic invertebrates (qualitative list). Identification with the highest possible taxonomic resolution.
  • Quantitative processing of benthic samples. Includes triage and identification of benthic biological samples and quantification of organisms by taxa.
  • Photographs of individualized samples and numbering by specimens.
  • Image processing

Other equipment:

  • Cori compressor.
  • Scuba diving equipment (SCUBA).
  • Light diving equipment.
  • Underwater camera for photographs and images (con foco).
  • Dry diving suit for year-round sampling.
