Nuclear spectrometry. Alpha spectrometer

The alpha spectrometry analysis service includes both sample preparation and the determination of the activity concentration of radioactive isotopes, both natural and of anthropogenic origin, in all matrices.

The isotopic separation of the samples is carried out through radiochemical procedures based on the use of ion exchange resins. The alpha spectrometry service performs the analysis of Pu, U, Ra, Th, and 210Po isotopes.

The following equipment is available for these analyses: alpha spectrometer. Alpha Analyst (Canberra). Alpha spectrometry system consisting of: 8 alpha chambers, expandable to 12; 8 low-background 450 mm2 detectors; 230-V vacuum pump; 19” rack.

Service location: Nuclear spectrometry laboratory (Andalusian Centre for Marine Studies – CASEM, 2nd floor, pala A. Puerto Real University Campus, University of Cádiz).
