XI Scientific Symposium of Students of Marine and Environmental Sciences (day 1) 14 May 2026

The XI Scientific Symposium of Students of Marine and Environmental Sciences is an event organized by the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, which offers students the valuable opportunity to present their research and scientific projects, thus fostering the exchange of knowledge and networking among peers and professors. Furthermore, SACMA plays a fundamental role in the development of the communication and presentation skills of future professionals in marine and environmental sciences.

As in previous editions, participation is open for both oral communications and poster presentations. Within the framework of the European University of the Seas (SEA-EU), a special poster session will be held for students from all partner universities (including the University of Cádiz). The best communications will receive various awards based on their participation category.

New this year, research projects can also be submitted in video-capsule and video-podcast formats for a new institutional repository. To ensure a professional finish, participants will have access to expert communication consultancy throughout the process. The best video will be awarded by the University Institute of Marine Research (INMAR). Additionally, INMAR will grant an audiovisual award for the best oral communication in the field of the Blue Economy.

This year, we are once again committed to the dissemination of the presented works, enhancing their presence on social media. All SACMA participants may submit a video in “reels” format for promotion through the Faculty’s social media accounts (INSTAGRAM: @sacma_UCA; @fac.cienciasmarambientalesuca) and SEA-EU (INSTAGRAM: @seaeualliance). To do so, the hashtags #SACMA and #SACMA2026 must be used. This category will also be eligible for an award.

Attendance without presenting a communication is also welcome.
