Workshop “Under the Blue Tarp: Archaeologists of the Sea” as part of the 2026 Summer Camp “Little Great Scientists” 3 September 2026

The activity consists of a workshop called “Under the Blue Tarp: Archaeologists of the Sea“, where participants will become underwater archaeologists for a day. Through touch and a guided search, they will recover scattered ceramic pieces and work as a team to identify how they fit together in order to reconstruct the original object. During the activity, they will discover how heritage hidden underwater is researched, how submerged historical remains are located, documented, and studied, and why it is important to protect this cultural heritage.
This activity is part of the 2026 UCA Scientific Summer Camps program, “Little Great Scientists“, an initiative promoted and driven by the Vice-Rectorate for Sustainability and Culture, through the Social and Solidarity Action Unit, together with the Scientific Culture and Innovation Unit of the University of Cádiz, within the framework of work-life balance actions aimed at the university community.
