Castillo de Doña Blanca Conference: A Site to Rediscover (day 2) 18 June 2026

From June 17 to 20, 2026, the Sala del Artesonado at the Palacio Araníbar in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz) will host the conference “Castillo de Doña Blanca Conference: A Site to Rediscover” This scientific and outreach event is dedicated to highlighting the value of one of the most significant archaeological sites in the southwestern Iberian Peninsula.
The initiative will bring together specialists, researchers, and cultural heritage professionals to reflect on the past, present, and future of the Castillo de Doña Blanca site—a fundamental space for understanding the ancient societies that inhabited the Bay of Cádiz. Through lectures, panel discussions, and outreach activities, the conference will offer an updated overview of the research carried out at the site, as well as the challenges related to its conservation, protection, and promotion.
The conference is organized in collaboration with various academic, cultural, and administrative institutions committed to the research and enhancement of archaeological heritage, including the University of Cádiz and entities linked to the management and dissemination of historical heritage.
This gathering represents an opportunity to bring the most recent scientific advances regarding the Castillo de Doña Blanca closer to society, while fostering dialogue among the research community, institutions, and the public regarding the importance of preserving and promoting our historical legacy.
