Blue Carbon analysis in marine sediments

The service allows the analysis of the set of parameters that allow estimating Blue Carbon in marine sediments, in addition to offering the necessary advice to correctly carry out the field methodology. As a complement to these analyses, granulometric analyzes are carried out (see marine sediment analysis service) and if it is necessary to estimate the carbon content in water samples, or interstitial water, the estimation of total carbon and inorganic carbon can be carried out (see TOC and TN analysis service in water samples). In this service, analysis is carried out through high-temperature combustion of solid macromolecules, based on the determination of carbon using non-dispersive infrared spectroscopy. In addition, other equipment is available such as a drying oven and a ball mill (pretreatment) as well as a muffle to differentiate organic from inorganic carbon.

Service location: INMAR laboratory no. 2 (INMAR/IVAGRO Research Institute Building, ground floor. Puerto Real University Campus, University of Cádiz).
